FAQ
WHAT DOES TABATA MEAN?
Tabata training was discovered by Japanese scientist Dr. Izumi Tabata and a team of researchers from the National Institute of Fitness and Sports in Tokyo. In a four-minute Tabata workout, you alternate between 20-second intervals of effort and 10-second intervals of rest for eight total rounds equaling four minutes. Dr. Tabata discovered that athletes who performed these four-minute interval workouts five days per week for six weeks increased their anaerobic capacity and VO2 Max (i.e. how much oxygen they could consume during exercise) more than athletes following other protocols like steady state cardio. In addition, this type of HIIT (High Intensity Interval training) workout creates EPOC (Excess Post- Exercise Oxygen Consumption) or an “afterburn” for an increased amount of calories, especially from fat, that can extend up to 24 to 36 hours post workout.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CLASS? IF IT IS MY FIRST CLASS?
Please BRING your running shoes and wear in your other sneakers/shoes. We try to preserve our awesome treadmills from the outdoor elements. Bring some water and we offer towels with our classes. DO YOU CANCEL CLASSES IN BAD WEATHER?
Safety is our main concern for members and instructors. If we feel it is unsafe to drive, we will cancel the class. Please check the class schedule prior to leaving for class on an inclement weather day. We will post “cancelled” on the schedule if we decide to cancel. If the class is not cancelled and you are signed up, same rules apply as our cancellation policy. So, if you do not want to chance it and feel unsure, please remove yourself prior so you will not forfeit the class if you decide you do not want to go. You will not forfeit a class if the studio cancels a class. The class goes back under your account to use on another day.
